Started at ECPI University: As an adjunct faculty member teaching Environmental Biology in 2010.

What did you do prior to joining ECPI University?

I was a senior research scientist and a disease strategy director in the Center for Excellence in Drug Discovery in Metabolic Diseases and the section head of cellular and molecular biology in the department of molecular pharmacology at Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) Pharmaceuticals.

I worked in several therapeutic areas, including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, obesity, women’s health, men’s health, and anti-aging. Prior to that, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology where I led a team working to identify a novel tumor suppressor gene in familial kidney cancer.

Most Rewarding Professional Experience: Organizing and moderating a key opinion leader conference with the FDA for Endocrine Diseases of Aging while working at GSK.

Most Rewarding Personal Experience: Raising two bright, compassionate, and fiercely independent daughters to adulthood.

Greatest Accomplishment: Successfully starting a second career at ECPI University.

Biggest Pet Peeve: Bigotry

Hobbies: Cooking, Singing, and Organic Gardening

Favorite Food: Svickova (Czech sauerbraten) with potato dumplings

My Most Treasured Possession: My parents’ family photos that they were able to bring with them when they emigrated from the Czech Republic.
