Charleston Campus – Director of Continuing Education Kaity Miller and CIS faculty member Michael Freeman volunteered at this year’s Chicora-Cherokee Coding for Kids summer camp.
Charlotte – The MED160 class spent part of the day volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Greenville Campus – As part of its continuing effort to raise money for the Autism Family Education Fund, students, faculty, and staff held a community-wide yard sale, capped off with the auctioning of 10 national championship mini-helmets autographed by Clemson University Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney. Proceeds helped send approximately 20 families to this year’s two-day education summit free of charge. ECPI University students and faculty were also able to attend and earned continuing education credits.
Greenville Campus – Career Services Advisor Michele Brinn hit the Foothills National Recreation Trail to raise money for some good causes earlier this year. She first completed the CureSearch Ultimate Hike – 28.3 miles in one day – and raised more than $2,600 for children’s cancer research. A week later, she took on another 28.3 mile trail for the Make-A-Wish Trailblazer Hike, this time raising more than $2,500.
Greenville Campus – Staff members volunteered at Izzie’s Pond, a nonprofit organization that provides rescue, rehabilitation, and refuge for injured or orphaned waterfowl, wildlife, and farm animals.
Newport News Campus – The Software Development Club held a video game tournament to raise money for the Peninsula Food Bank.
Newport News Campus – With support from faculty and staff, Physical Therapist Assistant students volunteered at MDA Summer Camp. They also raised more than $1000 through fundraisers that ECPI University matched, bringing this year’s total donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to $2000.
Online – Staff members volunteered for Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads JA Day, visiting the Academy for Discovery at Lakewood in Norfolk to teach fourth and fifth graders about entrepreneurship.

Raleigh Campus – Members of the Medical Club volunteered to assist the Raleigh Rescue Mission, making bagged lunches for guests and collecting ties, socks, and personal hygiene items for fathers at the mission during Father’s Day weekend.
Raleigh Campus – The honor societies combined their efforts to raise $1,000 for this year’s Relay for Life to support the fight against cancer.
Richmond/Emerywood Campus – Students, faculty, and staff held a book drive to collect new books for the young patients at VCU Children’s Hospital in Richmond.
Richmond/Emerywood Campus – Physical Therapy Assistant students volunteered at this year’s Special Olympics, helping screen approximately 120 athletes for flexibility, aerobic capacity, and strength.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – During Military Appreciation Month, students, faculty, and staff filled out thank you cards to service members that were sent out worldwide by the nonprofit organization, A Million Thanks.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Medical Assisting student Kimberly Viarruel volunteered with Appomattox Health to help provide free medical services at a recent clinic.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Dual enrollment students from Chesterfield Technical Center received a special surprise at the end of their course. After studying how programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are used to start, stop, and regulate motors, Campus President Matt Grinsell presented each student with a “Build-it-Yourself” drone kit to reinforce the learning experience.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Faculty and staff hosted fifth grade students from Crenshaw Elementary School to teach them about STEM and health science careers.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – All departments waged a “Penny War” to raise money for Fisher House, a non-profit organization that provides free lodging to families of veterans receiving treatment at McGuire VA hospital. The Health Information Management program won the contest. Combined, the campus raised $144.83.
Virginia Beach Campus – Staff members from Online joined their Virginia Beach campus colleagues for a Bowl-a-Thon to benefit Junior Achievement.
Virginia Beach Campus – ECPI University proudly sponsored the most recent luncheon for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
Virginia Beach Campus – ECPI University was Platinum Sponsor at this year’s Virginia Beach City Public Schools STEM Trifecta, a robotics competition where students are challenged to design and build a robot that uses Raspberry Pi technology that can perform tasks commonly seen on a manufacturing production line.
