Newport News Faculty Works with Middle School Students to Create 3-D Prosthetic Arm

Faculty from the Newport News campus volunteered their time at Tabb Middle School, teaching students how to use a 3-D printer to make adaptive devices for people missing all or part of a limb. In this case, Electronics Engineering Technology Program Director Chris Fritzel helped students design and create a prosthetic device for one particular student who was born without a fully-formed right arm that now allows her to use a Nerf Blaster.
